Sometimes there rise some problems between business and ecology. So media can solve the problems. In Armenia some businessmen wanted to cut the trees in Texut, and build there something. But with the use of media, a lot of people knew about it, I emailed some friends, so a big crowd of people gathered there. They organized riding there by bicycles, and so Texut forest is safe..So it is an example of how social media can change our life..

DOTCOM Phase #3, Module 2 - Exploring REEL BAD ARABS

Hello Dotcom! I miss you all so much, now each of us is busy with something but I am sure we all remember about every minute that we spend together....

Thousands of apologizes for being late, but it is because of the absence of internet...

So when I first saw the word arab, I immediately remeber the history about arabs, how in 7-th century arab tribes joined each other and create a great country with conquering a lot of countries.

1.At first when I heard the arabian music, and so images about them and then the nice part from ''Aladin'' this all influenced my limbic brain, especially the speech of talking man, it made me think..

The dying people, voices of guns, killers, and there was a minute that everything turned to fire this all were fearing, and it influenced my reptilian brain.

And of course these video made me think and think, at first I was askinh myself are arabs really so?are they cruel, killers? No this is all just stereotyping, a thing which cover the reality, and shows things that aren't real or true..Here is my neo-cortex brain.

2.. PERSUASIVE TECHNIQUES. HERE are some techniques- HYPERBALL- by using this they want to show us the bad sides of arabs..WARM FUZZIES- this video wants to have an influence on us by the different people in video, to make us fear or thing the way they want. Big lie- here is used big lie because we can't thing the same for the whole nation, every nation has its bad and good sides. TIMING- this video is 5 minutes 20 seconds long, but we see persuasive techniques...

3.PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES- I thing that this video is very powerful, the voice the images and especially the music are attracting..The parts from different films and the sceneries made me curious and I didn't want to stop.. I think this is the most important, when the movie attracts the audience..

4. SUGGESTIONS. The movie was great, but I think that it would be better if they had a lot of thoughts, they should interviewed common people, about what they think of arabs, do they understand that this all is sterotyping..

5. I will recommend this video not only for my friends but for the grown-ups, too, because this video will make them understand not only sterotyping about arabs, but stereotyping about everything that is next to us, I thing the great part of people has his own stereotyping about something, otherwise all this wars, argues will not happen...And we can fight against this if we ourselves realize how the stereotyping spoils our life, then we can proove it to everybody else...

DOTCOM Launches PHASE 3- Module #1: Reflecting on DOTCOM, Phase 2

HELLO everybody, at first I want to say that this summer was the best in my life. Now I am ready for more work..

1. What proved the most challenging part of our July Phase 2 DOTCOM experience for

you?

The most challenging part of our July Phase 2 experience for me was to be tolerant,

try to understand, it was so difficult to listen to different opinions and express yours..It was hard to mobilize 3 different ideas, to agree with each other and create a film..But we succeeded!!

2. What proved the most rewarding part of our July Phase 2 DOTCOM

experience for you?
THe most rewarding day was the Film Night, when we were waiting for our films to be shown and to be critisized.We were all very excited.

And the days that we spent working, were rewarding too, because we learnt a lot-

3. What proved the most fun part of our July Phase 2

DOTCOM experience for you?

Every day that we spent in America was full of fun..The kayaking trip was very funny, pool party, rope game.I remeber with great pleasure how funny and nice it was, when we were returning to our hosts by bus,and all the way Jacob and David were singing,their songs were wonderful..4. What are you most excited about, looking forward to our online Phase 3 DOTCOM experience coming up this fall?

I am looking for very informative modules, new work, I am looking forward to everything connected with DOTCOM..

DOTCOM film night

Oh, I am really very excited now..It was wonderful, I will never forget this day!! Guys I will miss you all. We really don't want to go!! I think everybody enjoyed our 10 REEL ACTION films. Now we can proudly say, that we succeded.. Here is a picture of my group, I am really proud of it!! It was so nice to work with such persons!!One....Two...Three...REEL ACTION!!!!!!!This night will always be in our hearts, and every time when we remember it, we shall remember our hard and nice work, and all the minutes, that we spent together...

DAY# 5.Our First DOTCOM Reflection Assignment

1.What did you learn in Washington D.C about media?
At first I want to say that Washington is a very beautiful place..So I spent an amazing time in Newseum, which reflects the history of America, and gives a lot of information about everything..I will never forget the expressions I saw there..''LET THE PEOPLE KNOW THE FACTS AND THE COUNTRY WILL BE SAFE''-Lincoln. Or '' The free press is the cornerstone of democracy'' I agree with this expression..So we had an owesome converstation in State Department, and Radio Station, we were speaking about the things we were interested in or we were concerned about..
2. What did you learn in Washington, D.C. about your student colleagues from the other two countries?
Ok, as Adzerbajanis weren't in Washington, I can tell something about American students..So they are all very smart and nice. Some of them are funny, the others are serious, but they all always smile, and they are friendly..I learnt a lot about their thoughts, which were different from ours..I love them all, and I am proud that I am working with such an amazing people...I imagine how I shall miss them.oh!

3. What has been hard or challenging about the DOTCOM program so far?
I think it was hard to communicate with various people, and try to understand them, and express your own opinion. And the hardest thing was to overcome the cultural shock, I think I didn't succed yet. As everything is different, even the food and wearing..

4. What has been exciting and rewarding about the DOTCOM program so far?
I like the way we get to know each other, I liked the team buiding games. I like the way Dr. Williams explain us everything about our work, and it make me be more active and thing about something anusual. It was to exciting on 4th of July, the Independence day was celebrated in anusual way, it was great, especially when Rob Williams and Dave appeared with our chiken Lenin..

MY TOP THREE REEL ACTION THEMES

1.SOCIAL JUSTICE. " The world is still standing because of truth, peace and justice", I like this idea because it reflects the goal of our fight. I think we must be just, and must fight against injustice. Why to put up with injustice and look how innocents are blamed, poor people are isolated, our rights aren't protected? We must realize that this life is in our hands, if we want we can change it..Let's do it.. Every time I see injustice I can't keep myself I immediately begin speaking and criticising.. Many people tell me that I am just harming myself and I can't change anything...And everytime I tell them that if all the people think so, nothing can be changed, they are right I can't change it alone but we can do it together!!!

2.GOVERNANCE. This is a very serious and important system. I think that it is related with responsibility, great diplomacy, and patriotism..But today most people don't realize this, they just think about their position, but a real governor must think that a great amount of people has believed him and he is discouriging them? Oh, he must think how to improve his country's condition how dicrease the poverty,but this isn't happening, none of them thinks so..This is a shame..I have met with people of government, disccused a lot of problems with them, all of them is promising to solve some problems, but nothing is done.

I think the day will come,and the new generation will come with new ideas,and will think about his country..But we, our generation must do something just now.

A patriot, isn't a person who does great things for his country, but each of us can be a patriot, if he keeps his fatherland clean, and doesn't drop a thing in the ground..

3.MEDIA. Media is the most important, because it let us express our ideas, and thoughts..We can make our voice listnened, and the issues we are concerned about be presented.. I have already used some kinds of media, in order to represent the problems of our country.. Media is a sourse of information, knowledge. We can be informed about many problems, and if we want we can join them and do something.... And ,of course, after the hard-working day, we can listen to a beautiful music, and look at beautiful pictures, and in this way we can relax........

Hi I like the Eurovision very much. Every year I am following it with great pleasure..But till now the best song for we is Tornero.. It is from Eurovision 2006...Here it is enjoy it.........

PHASE 2. 90second's elevator pitch

Hi, as you know I am Lilit. I am one of DOTCOM participants. I like this program very much, it has changed my life, I gained a lot from it. It gave me an opportunity to present myself, to express my ideas freely. Now I have a lot of friends and I imagine how many friends I would have , when we return from US.
I am an active and cheerful person, I think one must make his life interesting and funny, I am trying to do so. I am trying to find my right way in this life.
I like to take part in many competitions and programs, and of course to be the winner.During this programs I learnt about democracy, tolerance, laws, rights..
I love my country very much it is a wonderful place, I like its history. I am deeply interested in history, it is everything for me, I can't live without it.. I think a real citizen must know not only his rights and duties, but also his history, so I am trying to be a real citizen.. We must know who we are, and where we are from..
I have traveled a lot, I have been in many countries and historical places, but the most interesting country for me is Italy, it is a very attractive country...
I like music, especially classic music, I like to play the piano..
